While traditional AI is advancing, it often needs to catch up when real-time responsiveness and scalability where it is at stake, particularly in the finance and shared services sectors.
Although not a new concept, Agentic AI has started emerging now due to various factors like technology, business and social advancement. These systems are designed to operate with a high degree of autonomy, making decisions, learning from their environment, and taking actions aligned with organizational goals with minimal human intervention. This enhances efficiency and allows organizations to respond more effectively to dynamic conditions.
In software development, agentic AI can revolutionize it by embedding security and efficiency into the very fabric of the DevOps process. These systems can enable developers to integrate security by design, addressing vulnerabilities as they code rather than after the fact. The result is faster, more secure development cycles and also a transformative shift in how we approach long-standing challenges like technical debt and system vulnerabilities. As AI agents take on more routine tasks, from bug detection to code optimization, developers will surely be empowered to drive innovation faster, and enhance service delivery.
If you think from ITSM perspective, It can detect a sudden spike in network traffic or a decline in application performance, and raise a ticket and also autonomously reallocate resources or reroute traffic. Over time, it can learn from these actions to ensure a more efficient and resilient IT environment.
Apart from all the fancy AI-attached words these days, integrating such advanced systems requires skills and alignment with business objectives. The investment should be thoughtful of these powerful tools and not completely skip humans in the decision-making process for critical tasks.
We must ask ourselves how prepared we are to leverage Agentic AI to drive our organizations forward.
